Following the last Pipeline Story !!A Pipeliner lifestyle!! American pipeline Jobs!!
It’s great in that aspect. Being around a bunch of people who strive to be good and do good. But on the flip side, there are people here just like anywhere else who may not have your best interests at heart. People you’ve never met might try to damage your reputation for no clear reason. Some might even try to have you removed from a job thinking it will improve their situation. Loyalty is becoming rare, and so is doing the right thing. It makes it a lot harder for the folks that are trying to get into it. As far as how to do it, start at the bottom and work your way up.
If you want to be a welder, then find a welder who needs a helper. If you have too much pride to help or if the pay isn’t high enough for you as a helper, then this probably isn’t the right path. Being a helper isn’t about making top wages; it’s about learning. Learning how to do things, when to do them, and understanding everything you’ll need. There’s not a single welding school that can fully prepare you for life as a welder on a pipeline. Being a helper is what will prepare you.
And I’m no operator, but I’d say being a swamper closely mirrors the path of being a welder helper. Don’t let the nice trucks or polished pictures mislead you. All of that takes time, patience, and a lot of hard work. This lifestyle is incredibly exciting, but it has its tough sides too. Think about all of that before you commit. If you never start it, you’ll never be able to miss it. Opportunity cost is what it all boils down to at the end of the day.
